Weblog Entry 12.08.07 continued

PLEASE READ:
Our studio will be CLOSED from 12/8 - 12/16
Please email me from my site if you need anything. All emails will be answered on Monday and/or Tuesday of the returning week.
I have been booking weddings left and right the last 2 weeks. So, for anyone interested in using me for their wedding day, but have not set up a meeting, please contact me as soon as possible as I only take a limited number of weddings each year and I am getting very close to that number.
Since I will be away ... I leave you with two posts ....
First, we have ...
Sarah
When Sarah hired me for her senior pictures, I just knew we were going to get along great! She totally 'got me'. I always like to explain to my seniors that I work a little differently than other studios that they may have seen pictures from or that their friends may have used. I do not use a lot of props and I definitely do not do 'neon' lights shining in some sort of pattern on the backdrop. Oh ... and I should also throw in that I do not have any of those lifesize numbers in the school year for them to lean on while getting photographed. Once we get all of that out of the way, I tell them that I like to try and capture WHO THEY ARE.
Again, I don't ask for fake smiles ... I just ask that they be real with me.

Sarah, I hope you have a fantastic senior year! I really enjoyed working with you and I wish you the best!

More posts to come when I return to work! (Oh yeah .... I still have more to post)

Brittany
Brittany's mom has been a friend of mine for awhile now and I was honored when she called me and asked me to take Brittany's senior pictures. And, for those of you who know her mom - the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, does it?

Had a really good time over at Ault Park. I still love doing pictures there.

Here is Brittany's great smile!

And, I hope Brittany doesn't kill me for this ... but I absolutely LOVE her freckles - and, hence, this picture!

This next photo is such a great still photo. I love the light.

At Brittany's request, we headed over to her highschool to take some pics at the ball field. Of course, we couldn't pass up sneaking onto one of the school buses for a photo. Hey! They left it unlocked!

A couple of dugout pictures ...

Brittany's favorite photo ... and one of mine as well!

Brittany, I hope you have a great senior year! Thank you again for letting me take your senior pictures. I had a lot of fun with you girls!

Emma
Personality plus! - that's the first thing I noticed about Emma. She is definitely a firecracker! After talking to her on the ride over to Ault park, I found out that she and I had a lot in common!
We headed out at the crack of dawn on a Saturday in Sept. She is a morning person like I am!
Here are a few shots from our session.

Great smile!

sometimes I'm funny :)

I love the light on this shot - how her face is only well lit on the one side.

Emma has the most fabulous red hair!

One of my favorite shots from our session ...

A little flare ...

Emma, I hope you are having a wonderful senior year! I had so much fun with you. I couldn't have asked for a better subject!

Allison
I love senior pictures - but what do I love the most about doing them???
Doing them differently!
I had such fun with Allison. We really got some great stuff from her session.
First, here are a few studio portraits. I don't spend a whole lot of time in the studio when I can be outdoors. And, truth be known ... a lot of times, we don't shoot in the studio at all.

We headed out to Ault Park for our location. Allison wanted a park setting and this is the only park I know of that has flowers right now - everyone else's are dead or brown. If anyone knows of any other parks, feel free to leave them in the comments. I always love checking out new places.

I love the waterfall fountain in the background.

This next shot is one of those that I just had to take. I love the fact that she is the only real 'color' in the photo and that she stands out from the steps in a subtle way (probably because she is the only thing not made of concrete). I also love that everything is bathed in this warm light.

A 'study' ...

I told Allison that every shoot that I do ... I try and do one thing 'new'. This was it for me. I wanted to get some nice sun flare. Now sometimes when I try new things ... they flop. Yeah - I hate to admit it - but it's true. The good news is, I learn something EVERY time no matter the outcome - even if it is what NOT to do. In this case, it was definitely NOT a flop. I absolutely love this photo. Might go on my list of all time favorites.

and the light just keeps getting better ...

How do I always end up with these girls with GORGEOUS eyes??

And then the light was gone ... these last couple were taken when the light had all but vanished. However, I love the way they have a bit of an 'eerie' feel to them. What was the name of that movie with Johnny Depp .... ???

Sleepy Hollow

Allison, I hope you have a great senior year! I loved working with you! Seriously ... you are a dream to photograph.

Ok ... enough for today.
